Storm Damage Repair in Warr Acres
After hail or high wind, it is hard to know what your roof actually took. We get up there, photograph what we find and tell you plainly what needs fixing now, what can wait and how the insurance side usually works.
Sensible next steps after the storm passes
Storm damage is not always obvious from the yard. Hail can bruise shingles and knock loose the granules that protect them, and wind can break the seal strip so a tab lifts and drops back down looking normal. Neither may leak right away, but both shorten the life of your roof.
Our job is to find that damage, show it to you and fix it properly. When the problem is a handful of creased shingles or a torn ridge cap, a targeted repair is usually the right answer. When hail has hit every slope, we will tell you that too and walk you through what a roof replacement would involve.
Spring hail and summer wind are part of life in central Oklahoma, so these questions come up every year. You should not have to make a big decision the same afternoon a storm rolls through, and we will not push you to.
What our storm damage repair covers
- A full look at every slope
- We walk the whole roof, not only the side facing the storm. We check shingles, ridge caps, flashing, pipe boots and vents, plus soft metals like gutters and downspouts that often show hail marks first.
- Photos you can keep
- Every problem we find gets photographed with a close-up and a wider shot for context. You can use the photos to understand the damage and share them with your insurance company if you file.
- Temporary protection when needed
- If wind has torn off shingles or opened a gap, we can tarp the area during our visit to keep rain out while the repair is planned.
- Shingle and flashing repairs
- We replace damaged shingles with the closest available match, reseal lifted tabs and refasten or replace bent flashing. Repairs are nailed and sealed the way the manufacturer intends, not just patched over.
- Gutter and vent damage
- Dented gutters, crushed downspouts and cracked vent caps are common after hail. We repair or replace them as part of the same job so water keeps moving off and away from your home.
- A clean yard afterward
- We pick up debris and sweep the lawn and driveway with a magnet for loose nails before we leave.
Signs your roof took storm damage
Dark spots or bare patches on shingles
Hail knocks off the granules that shield the asphalt from sun. Look for darker circles or shiny spots, especially on the slopes that faced the storm.
Granules piling up at downspouts
A small handful is normal on an aging roof. A sudden heap after a hailstorm usually means fresh impact damage up top.
Shingles on the lawn or creased tabs
Pieces in the yard are the clearest sign of wind damage. Creased or folded tabs you can see from the ground mean the seal has broken and the next gust may finish the job.
Dents in gutters, vents or the AC unit
If hail dented metal around your home, it almost certainly hit the roof as well.
New stains on the ceiling
A water spot that shows up after a storm points to an opening above. Even a small one is worth checking before the next rain.
What affects the cost of storm repair
Every storm hits roofs differently, so we price your repair after we have seen it up close. Your written estimate shows what each line covers. If you file a claim, your deductible and coverage are set by your policy, not by us.
How widespread the damage is
Wind that peeled back a few shingles along one edge usually calls for a contained repair. When hail has marked the roof on all sides, we will talk with you about a partial or full replacement instead.
Matching older shingles
Some shingle colors and styles have been discontinued. Finding a close match, or deciding how to handle a mismatch, can affect the scope.
What is under the shingles
If water has already soaked the decking or underlayment, those layers need replacing too. We only know once the damaged shingles come off, and we show you before doing extra work.
Pitch and access
Steep slopes and tight spots near trees or fences take more time and safety equipment.
Gutters and accessories
Dented gutters, vents and flashing add to the total when they need replacing along with the shingles.
How a storm damage job goes
- 1
You call and tell us what happened
We ask when the storm hit, what you have noticed and whether anything is leaking. Then we set a time to come look.
- 2
We inspect and document
We climb the roof, photograph everything we find and check the attic if there are signs of water inside. Before we leave, we show you the photos and explain what they mean.
- 3
You get a written estimate
The estimate lists each repair line by line so you can compare it with your insurance paperwork. If you decide to file a claim, we explain how the process usually goes, though the adjuster and your insurer make the coverage decisions.
- 4
We make the repairs
On the scheduled day we protect your landscaping, remove damaged materials, install the new ones and seal everything. Most storm repairs are finished in a day.
- 5
Final walk-through
We go over the finished work with you, share the after photos and clean up the yard.

Storm damage questions we hear often
Who should I contact first after a storm, my insurer or a roofer?
That is up to you, and we are glad to work with either order. Having the roof looked at first tells you whether there is real damage before you open a claim. Our photos and notes also give you something concrete to point to when you talk with your insurer.
Do you handle my insurance claim for me?
No. The claim is between you and your insurance company, and the adjuster decides what is covered. What we can do is document the damage, explain what a typical claim looks like and make sure our estimate is clear enough to compare against the adjuster's report.
My roof isn't leaking. Can the repair wait?
Sometimes it can. Bruised shingles may hold for a while, but broken seals and lifted tabs tend to get worse with the next wind. Most policies also have a time limit for reporting storm damage, so getting it looked at soon keeps your options open.
Will a repair look patched?
We try to match your existing shingles as closely as we can. Older roofs that have faded in the sun may show a slight difference at first, and we will point that out before we start so nothing surprises you.
Do you work outside Warr Acres?
Yes. We handle storm damage repair in Bethany, The Village, Nichols Hills, Oklahoma City, Yukon, Edmond and other nearby towns. Our Service Areas page lists more.
What if you find the roof needs replacing?
We will show you why with photos and explain the difference between repair and replacement in cost and lifespan. If a new roof makes more sense, our Roof Replacement page covers how that job works.
